Once again this year, I am participating in the The RAL Art Center's signature event, the Annual Labor Day Art Show. It is being held Sept. 1 through Sept. 25 in the Gallery at
19 N. Main St., Kilmarnock, VA 22482. This year I entered two acrylic paintings and found out at the opening reception that I received the Marge Alderson Memorial Award for Best interpretation of Landscape for my painting "Iris Morning." I am especially honored because I loved Marge's artwork and recently acquired one of her paintings. The exhibition includes 125 pieces of artwork of all types. It was judged by Robin Caspari and you can find the award winners here. Robin had this to say about my painting, "Creative and fresh use of circular composition. Bold use of color while keeping the traditional landscape planes intact. I can feel Spring in the Air! A Success!"
My second entry in the Labor Day Show, "New Year, New Trail", has also been well received. There is so much amazing artwork to see in the this show and sales have been brisk. If you are in the Kilmarnock, VA area on a Tuesday through Saturday between 10 and 4, you don't want to miss it. The Show closes on September 25th. Most likely you will have another chance to see both of my paintings as part of my Natural Colors Show at the Norfolk Botanical Garden in October and November of this year.
