Silver Raven Studios is presenting my Beauty by the Bay Art Show at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum during the Summer of 2021. Having my home and studio in Reedville, I am surrounded by inspiring landscapes. Included in the Show are scenes from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the nearby rural farming communities. One of my ongoing painting series is called Fields and Flowers and five of those paintings are part of this show.
Be sure to schedule time to explore the wonderful exhibits (don't miss the model trains) both inside and outside the museum. There is so much to see and do. The museum will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11AM - 4PM. There is a small admission fee and children and Veteran’s are free. https://rfmuseum.org/
The Museum’s mission is to acquire, document, interpret and display materials that are historically important to the lower Chesapeake Bay with special emphasis on activities relating to Reedville fisheries and the lives of the region’s watermen, and to establish educational programs to interpret this maritime heritage.
The Virginia travel website describes the museum: "The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the fishermen and watermen of Virginia's Northern Neck and lower Chesapeake Bay by acquiring, documenting, and displaying historically important artifacts in its galleries and exhibits. A world-class collection of traditional Chesapeake Bay watercraft, featuring two on the National Register of Historic Places: The Claud Somers, a 42' skipjack; and The Elva C., a 55' deck boat; are dockside. A number of educational programs, events, tours and lectures are offered throughout the year for groups of all ages. The story of Reedville is linked to the commercial fishing industry, so come stroll the historic district, and enjoy our interpretation of the area's maritime heritage."
I will be at the Museum fo their Members and Media Preview on Friday, April 30th. On Saturday, May 1st, I'll be there during their regular hours, hopefully sketching or painting weather permitting.
Reedville itself is a Beautiful historic town so I highly recommend walking or driving down Main Street which dead ends at the waterfront. Check out the town's Facebook page here.
