On Saturday May 27th, I attended a Plein Air event in the town of Gloucester, Virginia. I found out about the event the day before during a visit to the Arts on Main Gallery. They were exhibiting a show called "Heart of the River" by twenty one Plein Air Painters. I discovered the show when it was recommended by the Stewart Gallery that was also exhibiting a plain air show. On Saturday morning the Gloucester Arts Community sponsored a plein air painting contest for the invited artists, community artists, and students. The painting began promptly at 9AM and lasted until 11:30 when they were framed and judged. In hindsight I chose a difficult subject and idd not have a special frame ready for my piece. It was fun to be a part of the excitement. I discovered the whole new plain air artists community that I never knew existed.
It was followed by a demonstration by Joseph Gyurcsak.
