“Defend Paradise: Intersections Between Social Change and Environmental Advocacy Exhibition Opens Friday, October 17th at Yacht Haven Grande. “ Defend Paradise: Intersections Between Social Change and Environmental Advocacy, the third in a series of PoP-Up Art exhibitions curated by PHR- Art Projects, will open on Friday, October 17th from 6pm to 8:30 pm at Yacht Haven Grande on St. Thomas. It will be benefiting the Virgin Islands Rotary Peace Initiative. The exhibit will be open, free of charge, everyday except Sundays, until November 15th, from 11am-6pm. PHR- Art Projects is a roving curatorial project with no permanent address. It is a socially driven, multidisciplinary enterprise that specializes in artsmanagement consulting, fine art exhibitions, curatorial services, and arts-integrated projects. PHR-Art Projects believes that cultural strategies are as necessary as political strategies. According to Priscilla Hintz Rivera, curator and director of PHR-Art Projects, “Through art, we can challenge many of our society's deepest problems, create awareness, and hopefully instigate positive change. In an attempt to use creative expression as a means to affect deep and lasting change in our community, the Defend Paradise exhibition will attempt to explore many of our social and environmental issues threatening the quality of life in the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
